Nobel Oil Services announces new top-management appointments

Nobel Oil Services (UK) Ltd, a London-registered company providing offshore drilling, construction, procurement and oilfield services in Azerbaijan and the Caspian region, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jorgen Peter Rasmussen as Chairman  of its  Board  of Directors  and  Ali Batu  as its Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Rasmussen brings over 30 years international experience in the oilfield services sector beginning at Schlumberger where he held positions including VICE President for Russia, Eastern Europe and the FSU, Managing Director for Oilfield Geomarket – North Sea CEO Schlumberger Smart Cards, and Senior Vice President for New Ventures and Integrated Oil and Gas Project Management Services. After Schlumberger Mr. Rasmussen was Executive Chairman, CEO and President of Seawell, Ltd, a platform drilling company that was later merged with Allis Chalmers to form Archer Drilling, Ltd where he was CEO until 2012. Mr Rasmussen is currently Chairman of Qinterra AS, a global well service and well intervention technology  company, where he recently handed over CEO responsibilities. He also serves as Chairman and board member to a number of other international oilfield services companies. Mr.Rasmussen holds a Masters degree in Geology and Applied Geophysics.

Mr. Batu is a 34-year Schlumberger veteran, and has held a variety of management roles in Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia and the Caspian region including Azerbaijan. He has served as country manager for Turkey and Ukraine and has special expertise in deepwater operations, project integration, recruiting and development and company strategy. He has managed projects for clients such as ExxonMobil, BP, Petrobras, Chevron, Sonogol, Lukoil and Socar amongst others. Mr. Batu holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering and speaks English, Turkish, Russian, Portuguese and Spanish. He will be based full-time in Nobel’s Baku office.
